Pressing the Images

1. Now that your design has been printed, contour cut, and masked (if necessary), it is now time to apply it to a garment with your heat press. You will want to postion your garment on the lower platen of the press, and always pre-heat the garment by locking the press down for about 5 seconds. Pre-heating the garment will remove any wrinkles and moisture in the garment, which can interfere with the adhesion of the graphic.
2. Once you have pre-heated your gament, make sure that time, temperature and pressure settings are programmed correctly for the material being applied. When adjusting the pressure have the garment loaded on the heat press to get an accurate reading. Once settings are correct, position the design on the garment in the desired location and close the press.
3. When the heat press timer has reached its end, you are left with, depending on the type of material being applied, peeling away the mask, backing or cover sheet from the transfer. With most digital medias, these can be peeled off, hot, warm or even cold if you wish.
4. While not necessary for all materials, it is a good idea to cover the newly applied transfer with a teflon sheet, and press again. Unless the material calls for a specific time on the second hit, it is customary to press for half of the time of the first application.
5. Now you have a completed garment ready to be put on the shelves for sale.
